Saturday night flirting over and studying lines instead. Off to try out for one of the school plays and hoping for a role with a cute costume. Theatricals (and one Hallowe’en Masquerade) imagery from old yearbooks of Saint Genevieve-of-the-Pines, Asheville, North Carolina for the years 1917 and 1920. These are all from scans on the Internet Archive but I found out about them from @ncdigitalheritagecenter on Instagram.

One of the many attractive offices in the Grant Building, Pittsburgh, which is equipped throughout with Yardley Blinds. We quote from a letter by V. W. Hunter. superintendent of this building, as follows: ‘- we are pleased to advise you that we have approximately 1800 Venetian Blinds of the Yardley manufacture in our building. Over a period of 33 months, these blinds have been satisfactory in every respect and we have had excellent service from the Yardley Company. We feel we made no mistake in the selection of the Yardley Venetian Blind.’ Page 8 of Yardley Venetian Blinds, a commercial catalog published by Yardley Screen and Weather Strip Company of Columbus Ohio USA. © May 1935. Yardley Screen and Weather Strip was active in the 1920s and 1930s according to a Google search. This is the only 1930s catalogue of theirs that anyone has scanned. There is an earlier pamphlet listing their screen products but it has no room pictures.

Designs beautiful enough to grace any room in Malmaison. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Empress Joséphine had some just like these. In various archives but the University of Heidelberg has the best scans.
