People straight out of the Middle Ages but painted in the 1860s and 1870s. History pictures by Swedish artist Johan Georg Otto von Rosen (Georg von Rosen). Living from 1843 to 1923, he studied art at the Swedish Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Far away people who probably never looked like this. History paintings with a touch of the Pre-Raphaelite mixed with a bit of Neo I don’t know what. But fun. Herbert Gustave Schmalz (Herbert Gustave Carmichael), English artist. Living from 1856 to 1935, he was a friend of William Holman Hunt and Frederic Leighton.
