“La Machine d’Argent” or surtout de table” which depicts a rabbit, an ortolan, a snipe with a long beak, and a variety of vegetables including a cauliflower, onion, turnip and gherkin.mushroom. Leafy plants peek out at the edges of a rocky ground evoking the earthen floor of a wood or glade. 1754. French. Silver. Engraved underneath Engraved underneath: “F.T. GERMAIN. Dish cover with a hunting theme
Dish cover with a hunting theme with a ten lobed oval base-plate upon which is set a rocky hillock topped with a stump with a hound crouching with the spoils of the hunt, several dead birds and a dead rabbit. Also features a hunting horn, dead hare and game basket which hang from the stump with various vegetables scattered around that were used to season the sauce for game.
