creeping on air as the door sways back and forth in the crawl space of the last cabin in the abandoned camp in the Adirondacks . . . better perhaps not to have come but all that way and where mother learned to canoe . . . something coming out but in a hush of quiet and not a roar with more behind . . . like those giant beetles in uncle’s house in the Keys . . . antennae a good two inches long . . . a six legged horde that cannot be stopped with no time to turn and run . . .
