whispering on air as somewhere beyond the eastern sea where the mountains rise the village fete begins . . . the little ones first with their evergreen boughs and then the procession that comes before the feast . . . an odd year but some things the same as they ever were . . . little Ancient Roman children and their boughs walking the same path and that a long long time ago and others from the time of Charlemagne . . . other children later yet to be born to those being born now . . . a merging and shape shifting and there now . . . if you are lucky you will dream of them tonight . . .
