sparking on air as the last bit of green glitter sails through the air only to settle on a gritty looking sidewalk . . . ball tonight and another tomorrow . . . a lobster today and Anne Boleyn tomorrow . . . up all night and every seamstress south of Baton Rouge sewing up a storm . . . oh to be a leading New Orleans dressmaker but hard what with half the money for a year made between 12th Night and the end of Mardi Gras . . . a needle prick on every finger today and a nap in the box at the opera house for the last day . . . earned it will be no matter what the soprano thinks . . . come to think of it the atelier made her costume too . . .
