Large hand-fan, the gauze panel painted with children after teatime; a little girl, accompanied by her mother, is on her way home after a game of shuttlecock. She walks past a bench where several children are laughing and squabbling over a doll. Some children are crying and one little girl appears to be praying. Tinted mother-of-pearl sticks and guards, the main guard being adorned with small children’s heads in brass or perhaps bronze. Signed by the painter Van Garden. ca. 1890-1895.
