New York with the tweens all sitting on the sofa clutching their cell phones while the sourdough bread rises in the kitchen. A new Martha Stewart recipe and a husband who doesn’t always like those, but all the strange herbs left out. Hopefully it will taste like his grandmother’s bread. Living in memory, it is, with hot loaves left to cool on racks and grandchildren who dug out the middle with a spoon and snacked away, the butter running down their chins. That wonderful, but trying to capture every bread moment in real time impossible.
