Plates of Australian animals from John Gould’s “Mammals of Australia” which was published between 1845 and 1863. Having examined specimens that Darwin brought back from the second voyage of the Beagle, Gould and his artist wife Elizabeth was inspired to spend two years in Australia studying birds and other wildlife. Lithographs by H. C. Richter based on drawings by the Goulds.
