Living the Jugendstil way and only needing a new tin of mustache wax before Kaiser Wilhelm comes for the shooting. Imagery from a 1912 edition of “Jahrbücher,” an annual publication filled with design options of all kinds. Ceramics, dining rooms, front yards, etc. etc. It was published by Deutscher Werkbund which was founded in 1907. They directly influenced the Bauhaus school.

Jugendstil flowers from 1908 and 1910. These were collected by three girls who were born in 1890s Vienna Austria. Some of these they created and others were taken from published sources, probably from art magazines. Part of the same lot and found on the website of Michael Laird who is a rare book dealer.

Jugendstil vases designed by Gustav Gurschner who was a sculptor too. Living from 1873 to 1970, Gurschner studied art in Vienna and in Paris. In 1898, he participated in the inaugural exposition of the Vienna Secession. Also designed ashtrays, a far more popular item in 1910 then they are now.
