A selection from the volume “Pâte sur Pâte” (Clay on clay), written by Minton artist Marc Louis Solon who had previously worked for Sévres. “Clay on clay” being a technique where successive layers of liquid clay are applied to a body in order to build up a low-level decorative relief. Designs for Minton by Scotsman Christopher Dresser. Porcelain. Living from 1834 to 1904, he trained as a botanist but also made some wonderful art. All of these with a lot of blue but he worked in pink and brown too.
